Tulsa Centennial
June 2021
In the early 20th century, Greenwood, Oklahoma, a district which lies in the city of Tulsa, was once one of the wealthiest black communities in the United States, known as Black Wall Street. On May 31, 1921, a white mob attacked and burned down the area, leaving many dead, and thousands of black residents displaced.
In June 2021, Acuity Productions visited the city of Tulsa, OK, to commemorate the Centennial of the Tulsa Race Massacre.
An interview with Acuity was arranged by World Stages on their ongoing work and mission. Acuity also attended the Economic World Conference to honor Reginald Lewis, the first African American billionaire, to commemorate the once proud and thriving Black Wall Street of Greenwood.
